Raising KataOrphans

Founded 2026 · our first year

An orphanage is the last resort, not the first.

Most children called orphans have a living relative who would raise them — if they could afford one more child at the table. Raising Kata closes that gap. We started this year, so what follows is a plan rather than a record, and we would rather you knew that on the first page.

What we do, and what we do not

Two programs are running. Two are not, and are labelled that way rather than left ambiguous.

Where we stand

“We will not take you to meet the children.”

New organizations are told that trips build donors. We are deciding against it now, while it is still cheap to decide, rather than after we depend on the money. A child who has already lost a parent does not need an attachment to an adult who leaves in nine days.

We have no Form 990 yet, and we will say so

Our first fiscal year has not closed. What we can show you is the entire budget — every line, and the arithmetic behind it — plus the date each missing document is due.

What we will publish, and when

We have no Form 990 and no audit yet. Here is the schedule, so you can check whether we keep to it.
